    3. I think I figured out most of my problems with the bold and underlining in "Create HTML" webpages. In my notes I had some sections privatized, starting at a heading formated for bold and underline. The { before the heading was also bold and underlined. Once I corrected that, the facts and notes looked correct. So it was a user error, and not the fault of RM 6. I still have the problem with the marriage section. It is still in bold (no underlining). This is true for the marriage section of every person in my website. As I said earlier, this problem goes back to websites I created with RM4 and 5, and I've just lived with it. Thanks to Tom and Mike for your suggestions. This list has the most helpful folks! I've done some research for a friend who is not a genealogist and would like to put the data with about 200 names on his computer. What I have in mind is installing Essentials on his computer and transferring the data from my RM6 file using RM To-Go on a USB drive to his computer. There are no multimedia files involved. I did not altered the code in any way, and wouldn't know how without your directions. 3. Can't be done completely from within RM. Can readily be done using a SQLite query. Best you can do with RM is a Custom Report, comprising: Name, RIN, Death date, Burial Date. Run it on everyone and save to a text file using the .csv extension. Open with Excel and add a column that tests for equal non-empty dates and outputs a flag (say an asterisk). Turn on filtering and filter the result set to show only those rows with the asterisk. Tom -----Original Message----- From: David E. Cann Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2013 7:34 PM To: RootsMagic Users List Posting Subject: [RMagic] Burial/death search within by date I have tried just about everything I can think of to print a specific report of death and burial dates, but cannot seem to find the right combination of criteria to make it work. What I want to do is to print out a list of individuals who have death and burial dates that ARE THE SAME DATE. I have a fair number of them based on a very large cemetery record I managed to obtain, and when I started to notice what seemed to be more than a few folks shown as buried on the same date they died, I questioned it. I was assured they were correct, so I went ahead and entered them as shown. Now, I have more reason to question them and want to go back and change the date of burial to "aft 5 Feb 1891" (or the like) rather than "5 Feb 1891" that it current states. I am very surprised, but I cannot find any means of setting either Search & Replace or any other search tool to result in telling me who is shown with death and burial dates that are the same. Am I missing something, or is there no way of doing this. I prefer a printed list, that way I can do them one at a time and change them that way for accuracy, but if Search and Replace will do it then I can sure live with it. If anyone out there (are you out there Bruce?) reading this can straighten me out, I would appreciate it. Note that now with burials now being in cemeteries that no longer list in place names but in place details, it is now kind of different than it used to be and I cannot find the right combination to make it work. 3. Myrna, Please forgive me for jumping in on your post, but I would likewise be interested in printing such a list of people shown with a date of death and date of burial on the same date. I posted myself on the subject yesterday, but no reply yet so I hope it doesn't mean that it cannot be done. As for your query about the living toggle, I think I have done that some time ago when I changed the toggle for a number of people who needed it. It took me a long time to figure out how to do it (it's done in RM Explorer) if my memory serves me correctly (which it sometimes does not), but let me take a look and see what I can find and I will come back if I find anything of any value to you. Sorry to be so vague, but my aging (70) gray matter just is not what it used to be. David E. 3. Hi Tom Thanks for you answer:I had to read it a few times, not being a very technically gifted one. There are >1410000 individuals in my file. As I explained in the Facebook group Technology for Genealogy my own family is but a very small part of my main file, which contains the combined ancestry of most of Europe's crowned heads, American presidents, movie stars (and so on),descendants of king James I/VI of England/Scotland and the genealogists who study all of that.Is it all proven? I spend my days adding, correcting &reviewing data. Well, there is allso a 'fun part' in my file (Irish kinds,Biblical lineages and other hallucinations) -I don't believe anything of it.... I'm co-author of 4 books on the ancestors of tne king of the Belgians, the crown prince, and their wives. That's how I got into it. They arent' related to me,but, why should a genealogist limit himself to this own family? Tou can view a sample of my work here: http://users.telenet.be/JoseVerheecke/index.html I started my computerized files 20 years ago - a dozen others joined in -it did get a bit out of hand,I presume.. José jose.verheecke@telenet.be Errare humanum est, perseverare, diabolicum ----- Original Message ----- From: Tom Holden To: rootsmagic-users@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 05, 2013 6:09 PM Subject: Re: [RMagic] Maximum Size for a RootsMagic -database There is no definitive answer, Jose, except some hard limits somewhere out there in a 64bit number limiting the size of a table and/or the operating system itself limiting the size of the file. RootsMagic4+ uses the SQLite3 database engine. Here's what its limits are: http://www.sqlite.org/limits.html and reading down to the last paragraph: "The theoretical maximum number of rows in a table is 2^64 (18446744073709551616 or about 1.8e+19). This limit is unreachable since the maximum database size of 140 terabytes will be reached first. A 140 terabytes database can hold no more than approximately 1e+13 rows, and then only if there are no indices and if each row contains very little data." That's 10,000,000,000,000 or 10 trillion rows. That said, there is the question of how long does it take the application, operating system and computer hardware to execute some procedure - all three of these are highly variable: the application on how much is done in SQL versus how much is done in the higher level application development language and with what granularity (i.e., how many calls to the database); the OS on which version and how it is configured; the hardware on disk speed (solid state disks offering a big advantage) and on caching in RAM... and then there is the question of how long a delay we are willing to tolerate. Some RM operations slow down seemingly exponentially with the number of persons in the database, e.g., Duplicate Search Merge. I'm curious to know how many persons are in your 930MB database and why??? 3. I would export my own family into a separate RM database by either gedcom or a drag and drop into a new database. Then I would have 2 databases, one for my own family and one for everyone else. I would find it very difficult to work on my family research with that many unrelated people in the database even if I had my family members color coded all the same color. Just selecting people for reports to be restricted to family every time would waste of a lot of time. 3. Apparently there is a definitive limit, José. That's the 2TB that Bruce stated. As he is the chief architect and author of the software, he should know better than I. That has to do with the application development system Delphi and the compilation of SQLite3 he uses with it, DISQLite3, which has a published limit of 2TB, per http://www.yunqa.de/delphi/doku.php/products/sqlite3/feature_chart . If you can't have a bit of fun with genealogy, it would be a little dry ;-) Tom On 2013-01-05, at 1:08 PM, José Verheecke <jose.verheecke@telenet.be> wrote: > Hi Tom > Thanks for you answer:I had to read it a few times, not > being a very technically gifted one. > > There are >1410000 individuals in my file. > As I explained in the Facebook group Technology for Genealogy > my own family is but a very small part of my main file, which contains the > combined ancestry of most of Europe's crowned heads, American > presidents, movie stars (and so on),descendants of king James I/VI of > England/Scotland and the genealogists who study all of that.Is it all > proven? 3. There is no definitive answer, Jose, except some hard limits somewhere out there in a 64bit number limiting the size of a table and/or the operating system itself limiting the size of the file. Tom

    3. I have downloaded the Rootsmagic ap to my iphone5. I am having a problem with free-form sources, which is the only kind of source that I use. When I  tap "sources" for a birth, marriage or death, I cannot pull up the research notes portion. This is where I type in all the details including word-for-word obituaries.   Is there any way to view these research notes that are attached to the source citations, in the iphone ap?   Thanx   Nancy From: "rootsmagic-users-request@rootsweb.com" <rootsmagic-users-request@rootsweb.com> >To: rootsmagic-users@rootsweb.com >Sent: Wednesday, January 2, 2013 3:00 AM >Subject: ROOTSMAGIC-USERS Digest, Vol 8, Issue 1 > > > >SEND REQUESTS FOR CHANGES TO YOUR MAILINGS TO: >RootsMagic-Users-Admin@RootsWeb.com > >NOT TO THE MAIL LIST. > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to >ROOTSMAGIC-USERS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without >the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > >Today's Topics: > >  1.
