When I launched RM6 on my desktop it told me that I was using RM To Go but I wasn't. It would not let me close the program and kept giving me this error message: *C:\Program Files (x86)\RootsMagic 6\RootsMagicApp.xml* I selected to send the error report to you several times and finally had to close the program via task manager. I'm going to SLC on Sunday for a week while attending SLIG and would like to have my database ready to use. Should I uninstall it and re-install it? Suggestions? Alfred: On the screen the picture and children line are tinted. They print pink unless the change is made under properties. Having the box unchecked does not make it black. This is version 5.0.4.1. I can live with it until I get the next version and then see what happens. Thank you for your help. Sally

I have found a few family genealogies online that have some of my Danes. I haven't done much research on the folks I found in the online stuff. I created webtags so I can view a webtag report which will give me the name of the person the online site is related to and the url. My record keeping is severely lacking and I knew that if I didn't have something that would link the person and a url it would soon become unfindable. Using a webtag fits me fine. List: I thought that there was a way of recording Witnesses with Rootsmagic. Could someone describe how to do this? Thanks, Elizabeth Kutz
I have been looking at the web tag feature that was added in rel 6. It looks like a good way to keep track of pages that I might like to go back to for a particular individual. How are people using them? Do they appear in reports or just in the Web Tag list? I would expect that some of these web site would migrate to the source list as you delve into them and extract the info you want. They look like a good way to keep track of unfinished things that you want to go back to. Any thought as to how this would complement the research log. I always have good intentions to use the research log, but just recently decided I need to recommit to using it and the web tags. The research log has always seemed to be more useful for site visits. You can use the user defined facts for these types of facts. I frequently see a Miscellaneous fact with the entry "No Children"or "Never Married" or some variation of these words that people prefer. I see also that people some times note the number of children that a couple had. What I've been thinking about adding is the number of marriages. I've recently run across some individuals where I only have 1 wife for the husband and he actually remarried. Dying in childbirth or as a result of complications was much more common 150 years ago than it is now. Thank God. I don't think we need new features added but use features that can be user defined as they were meant to be used. The first is to be able to add a fact to an individual that would say "Never Married". The second is to be able to add some sort of fact or note that would appear on a couple's Family Group Sheet (and maybe other reports) that would say "No Children". What do you think? Assuming that they are not already available in RootsMagic and I haven't found them, I would like to suggest that two features be added. The first is to be able to add a fact to an individual that would say "Never Married". The second is to be able to add some sort of fact or note that would appear on a couple's Family Group Sheet (and maybe other reports) that would say "No Children". What do you think? Tom
Alfred: The box before print color coding is "not" checked and it still prints pink. I did use printer properties and clicked black ink only. That worked. The pink on printing is OK but the pictures are strange. Now you have my curiosity aroused. Does this pink show up on the screen report before you print or just on the actual paper output? If it is only on the printed output it could be that some of the color inks are running out. I am only guessing. If it is the screen display, it doesn't sound like anything I have heard of. (or know anything about) I have seen my full color prints come out looking very odd when one of the inks is running out. Steve Turley has developed a utility to copy a custom report from one database to another. It's listed at http://sqlitetoolsforrootsmagic.wikispaces.com/Utilities+by+R.+Steven+Turley along with others he has published. Always make a backup first! Tom
When I try to Publish Online a second site, it overwrites the first one. Is it necessary to register a new account to publish a second one or is it not possible to do it? Jess Davis ***********************
I have several large databases that I constantly create and search. I have created several Custom Reports to assist in the search. Is there some way without manually creating to / export / import a custom report.--
Ican open the result. it puts a htm file ib the photo folder. -- -- Jon P Czarowitz, NHC, GF, GGF, IGC Hempel Genealogist since 1986 International Genealogist for http://www.clancunninghamintl.org RootsMagic 5 http://www.rootsmagic.com CUNNINGHAMS TOGETHER - CUNNINGHAMS WORLDWIDE!

I suggest you do a backup first, Then try going to Lists - Repository list, find the repository and delete it. Thanks, Alfred. I forgot about the Repository list. It worked like a charm. And I always back up, including to two external hard drives. I've worked on this database too many years to try to recreate it.
