    3. I have a website www.krsmith.net <http://www.krsmith.net> that is hosted by GenealogyHosting.com that I have had for at least four years. It contains my entire genealogy families with their pedigree charts, and 29 pages of sources and citations with a smattering of pictures. The data probably came from RootsMagic 6. I am in the process of building another website at www.kateremembers.com <http://www.kateremembers.com> which I plan to use for my creative writing and link it to my genealogy website. As I understand the discussions during the last several weeks I will no longer be able to upload a current version of my RootsMagic data and sources to www.krsmith.net <http://www.krsmith.net> . Is that a correct assumption? I have 16 generations in each of the direct lines with sources and citations. At this point what are my options for maintaining my genealogy in RootsMagic using RM7. I am totally confused as you can tell. Are Webinars or Videos where I need to go to learn? After I send this that is definitely where I am going. Kate Redford 337-591-1297

    3. No, that assumption is not correct. You can still generate files to host on your own website with RM7. You can do it in the exact same format as your current site, or using a newer format that was introduced in RM6. - Bruce On Sun, Jan 25, 2015 at 4:45 PM, Kate Redford via < [email protected]> wrote: > I have a website www.krsmith.net <http://www.krsmith.net> that is hosted > by > GenealogyHosting.com that I have had for at least four years. 3. With my Cherokee Indians, the two Smith lines from Tennessee, Delaware and South Carolina I consistently used the names that would have been used for legal documents at the time of the event. Then in a note for reports I state what I have done. The important thing is to indicate what you are doing in a general note and make every effort to be consistent. I have tried to do that back to 1741. Grave Yard locations can be a real pain trying to decide what location to use. Remember some can be abandoned or destroyed. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of James Shaw via Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2015 3:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [RMagic] Pre revolution locations I'm loading in to my roots db, family histories provided by relatives. The entire database is uploaded to the server which runs PHP scripts or whatever with a data connection to your uploaded .rmgc file in order to generate web pages on-the-fly as demanded by a browser. So you cannot upload RM7 web pages to another host because your RootsMagic software does not generate any (or, if it does, it is only the home page). Tom <snip>

    3. Charlie, Thank you for the reply, but it seems obvious (at least to me) than I need to do some more homework on this new RM7 webpage to better understand how to use it. I do like the format though. David <snip> David, I haven't seen anyone else reply to your questions, so I'll give it a try. The RM6 version creates HTML files that you can view on your computer, the RM7 version does not. I don't know what RM7 does, but it does it quickly and they look pretty good. The Pre RM6 (RM5?) is different in that it produces various pages or FGS sheets or books. Not the pedigree view that you can scroll around in like RM6 or RM7. Both the RM6 and RM7 pages look pretty much the same when viewed on the web. The main difference I've noticed is that the indexing is much neater in RM7. To get a quick look at the two check out these sites: http://my.rootsmagic.com/Hoffpauir/ For my old site created with RM6 http://sites.rootsmagic.com/CharlieHoffpauir/ for my new site created with RM7 Unfortunately, I never used RM5 or earlier web site creation tools. -- Charlie Hoffpauir

You have to open the Media Album on the Death or other fact (click on the Media box in the fact row, or if you have opened the Media Album from somewhere else on the Edit Person screen, you need to select the Death or other fact from the dropdown filter list above the thumbnail/list pane. And if you have added the media to something and want to tag it to the death or other fact, select the media item and then click Tag Media to choose the person, family, fact to which you want it tagged.
