I've been researching for 25 years, freely share my genealogy, help others when I can and expect the same in return. I spent the time and money to research lines that no-one was researching until I came along. it's been a long tough haul, with some ancestors eluding me yet, including a great grandfather. people often take my work with no communication. that's an "occupational hazard". so when I learned last week that two major breaks had been made in my lines (two brick walls knocked down) by people who had borrowed my 25 years of work and managed to find what I could not, and then DID NOT SHARE that information with me (it was old information in their files), I was deeply hurt. I've struggled with those ancestors for 25 years, gave you 25 years of genealogy with over $10,000 expenses with no strings attached, and you can't even notify me that you have information on our ancestors? what, I don't care, don't deserve to know and I don't want to extend my tree? I am thoroughly insulted. please don't stuff my email box with responses, do me a favor and pass this forward to every list and message board out there. I am tired of the shelfishness I find among researchers. I want an end to at least the worst of the selfishness, and maybe we can work on the minor stuff when we've fixed the major stuff. for those of you who give tirelessly to the community, volunteering and guiding others in their research, this email is NOT for you, you deserve more blessings and acknowledgements than you get. this email is for the ones who take and never give.
