    3. Phil, the only genealogy program I know of that allows two copies of a database (or two different databases) to be opened is RootsMagic. You can find it at RootsMagic.com. Actually, only one copy of the program runs, but it allows multiple databases to be open in it at the same time. They can be tiled for easy dragging and dropping. Well, not that it matters now, as Phil has apparently solved his problem, but The Master Genealogist (TMG) allows you to open one project on two computers, two projects on one computer, or one on one computer and the other on the other computer. A "project" is a completely separate database. Within a "project" you may have more than one "dataset" -- say your family in one, your brother's in the other -- and you may move/copy people and tags from one dataset to the other. You cannot, as near as I can determine, copy from one project to the other. The way to "fix" this, of course, is to add the brother's project to your project as a dataset. The families remain separate, but they are "there" in the background. Hope this helps.
