Kirsten- Y DNA only tests the Y chromosome and you (as a female) don't HAVE a Y chromosome...so there would be NOTHING to match from a Y test and any other. With mtDNA testing which both females and males can have tested you MAY find some matches for others you share a mutation with -- but it is less likely you will find any close match based upon the nature of the test and mutations that occur frequently enough that many people carry them. For females I still believe that autosomal testing is the best you can do to try to find matches throughout your family tree -- no matter where the connection lies.
