The Public Profiler site *does* have individual country maps. Do the search first, then click on the country on the world map that you're interested in. Then you can drill down to the state within the country. thank you. I dug deeper, and you're right, though it isn't the one that I remembered and was looking for. the only other thing I recall about the site I'm looking for is that it's percentages are scaled from white to a bright red-orange, with yellows in between and almost blood red for really dense proportions of surnames, where this site's scaling is in blues. also, the other site might not separate the counties/shires or provinces or cantons, but I can't be sure of that, it's been a while since I checked it out. unfortunately I was looking for a very common surname, which isn't helping much. my suspicion of it being Welsh is proved correct, though, the darkest (most concentrated) section is in and around Wales. eep, but it's also Cornwallish, as well, so I still am no-where with it. oh, well, it was worth trying. best, Cornelia On 11.05.2012 13:46, Drew Smith wrote: > The Public Profiler site *does* have individual country maps. > > Do the search first, then click on the country on the world map that > you're interested in. It's a non-American site, set up specifically for people to look for their ancestral/personal surnames. they only had England for the longest time (around a decade) then about last year they added Germany and several other places. some aren't complete.
