Gale: How do you even *get* to Family Tree? I'm signed up for new.FamilySearch and have a tree there but this is the first hint I've had that there was such a thing as Family Tree. I'm not LDS, but I don't exactly live under a rock, so how did I miss discussion on this new site and how do I get on board? I immediately clicked on the link to see what was available in Family Search trees. None of my tree was there so next thing is figure out how to submit my tree and then kick back and see who adds to it. I have found a lot of info in other trees on Ancestry that I would not have found through traditional search paths. When a daughter marries and changes her surname she can get difficult to find. The extended family is still related so perhaps they are happy to hear of me. Gale Gorman Houston On Jul 14, 2012, at 9:37 AM, BARTON LEWIS wrote: Sorry, I don't agree. Kirsten, Sign in, go to blog, search "Family Tree Beta" This will pull up "First-Time Account Activation...." The link is there. That is why every body need to go to the FS blog for answers. Requirements are listed. Mere providing link to join will not work because you have to sign in to FamilySearch first. I want you to read through before going ahead. David S. David: Thank you; that was helpful to some extent. Searching the blog for Family Tree Beta brings up 31 pages of hits on a wide variety of subjects and in no particular date order--which definitely underscores Nivard's point. I did find the correct spot and was able to register, but why couldn't someone have simply said something like . . . Family Tree is the name of a new site developed by FamilySearch.org. It is designed to replace the trees now at new.FamilySearch and those at new.FamilySearch have already been copied to Family Tree. Family Tree has been in beta for some time but members of the public can now access the site and view/edit those trees by registering at ( ). An announcement describing Family Tree is at ( ). Family Tree operates very differently from new.FamilySearch and has a number of improvements over the old site. Instructions for using the site can be found at ( ) and questions or requests for help can be posted at ( ). . . . Obviously I still haven't found all the answers even after days of digging and reading, but just this much of a post would have saved a lot of e-mails to the list. If anyone can fill in those blanks it would certainly be appreciated.
