I use FB, but am generally repulsed by it. they don't handle it well, people post truly stupid things (a niece posted a photo of her daughters new driver's license, for instance, and that daughter posted a rather revealing photo AND her address and phone number. honestly, what were they thinking?!?) but it got me back in touch with some of my siblings after a family rift, and I have had some interesting conversations with RAOGK volunteers and used other FB genealogy lists, not with a lot of success, but if I were just starting my research I'd be hauling in a goldmine of information from them-and I have had some interesting leads on my more difficult lines thanks to people who are knowledgable in my ancestor's home town. for instance, a lady on RAOGK international sent me the link to Clan Donald House, Skye, yesterday. hopefully they'll be able to help me learn more about my McDonald ancestors. I don't know how long it would have taken me to find out bout the link myself, sometimes I'm too focused on an ancestor tfgo see the bigger picture. but when I spoke to Clan Donald U.S.A., and Clan Donald Canada, they never told me about Clan Donald House, Skye. go figure. from what I've seen on the lists, some are extremely helpful. I was disappointed with NEHGS, though. I posted one or two queries, but was completely ignored by them. Cornelia
