The reason that you include some text from the previous message is because email is not an immediate mode of communications. At times I can go a few days without checking my email, without the context I would not understand the response. It can be seen on other lists that also have a forum. The messages in the forum do not need context because the context can be seen on the previous message. But these messages being also routed to there corresponding mailing list make no sense because I do not see the context. The problem I see on mailing lists is those who do not remove the text that does not apply to the response.
