Emery First, what part of "FamilySearch" were you looking in? There are copies/indexes/extractions of records, done by FamilySearch, and posted. There are also "details" about people that were contributed by other researchers. Good and bad. I'm unclear on who was born and who died when. James R Brown, Jr. Sarah A James R Brown, Sr. Which died 11 Aug 1869? I did find this: Brown James R. Jr. 11 Aug 1869 But, nothing about the parents. And, nothing to indicate that this particular James R Brown, Jr, is related to the James R and Sarah A Brown couple. Not even any information on which cemetery he's buried in. I could not find any of this on FamilySearch, but then the website is now so huge, you have to be pretty discrete about search terms, I've found. The "about 1858" statement really says: "I don't know, but sometime around..." So, could have been 1860, or 1861, just as easily. Without knowing exactly where on FamilySearch you found this information, not much else to say. Usually there will be a source for this type of information. What does it say? I came across information on Family search that said he was born abt. 1858 and was in the 1860 census. I have a copy of that census and it only shows Sarah E, and James with a son William H, at 11/12, years old at the census date of 18 July,1860. Sarah was 17 at this time and they both are living with her parents. This would make her 15-16 years old when James Jr. was born I had previously estimated that they were married abt. 1859, but that may have to be adjusted some. What am I missing, or is there an error on Family search's part? Thanks for all help offered.
