I was checking a distant relative in the 1900 census and found his occupation listed as N. G. 0-0-2. His name was indexed on Ancestry as Dangerfield E. B. and he was in Pacific Grove, Monterey Count, California, roll 94, page 4B. There were others on the same page whose occupations were N. G. 0-0-4, N. G. 0-0-0 and N. G. 0-0-1. Could anyone explain what this means?
"Not Given", where the third number in the code indicates how many unemployed people in the household are dependent upon the head of household.
