    1. Re: [ROOTS-L] 1940 Federal Census Corrections via Ancestry.com
    2. Sandy, If you go to the 1940 Census and ask for Ethel in Columbus, Platte County, Nebraska.....the first one that comes up b. circa 1891 Nebraska will take you right to your family. Off to the left is the "Usual" place for corrections. You should be able to add first names and surnames to all as necessary. Gretchen In a message dated 7/23/2012 9:45:52 A.M. They are in a section of the 1940 census where the names are quite faded on the page. Luckily I know the first names and ages and where to begin looking via the 1930 census. Also having my grandmother Ethel's death certificate let me know where they were living in 1951. My Boswell family (John D, Ethel, Carroll, Lucille, Junior, Leonard & Robert) is listed in Enumeration District 71-11. On the Ancestry.com viewer it is listed as page 26 of 38. On the census form they are listed on lines # 53-59. As I understand another member suggested Ancestry's data base will not have the ability to be corrected until it's indexed. I just checked and according to Ancestry.com it is indexed. The problem lies with not being able to put their name into the search and come up with their name, and 'm sure this is because their name is listed as unknown on the census. I know it's listed this way as a bar pop's up on the far left side of the Ancestry.com viewer showing who is on each line. On my Boswell family it comes up as unknown. So again my question is, does anyone know at this time how we submit changes to Ancestry.com to let them know who is on this line? I spent over 30 minutes clicking on links in Ancestry to find an e-mail contact in which to send it along to. Thanks again, Sandy
