In regards to what Nivard was saying about so few posts on here; I find it so irritating that I have to scroll thru the original post over and over when people are responding to the same post. I enjoy the list except for this situation... I don't meant to stir up controversy but it would be more encouraging to post on here if every poster would not leave the original post, in addition to what they have to say about it. If people respond to the same post they may have something to add but if they respond because they are too lazy to type in a new subject it is their loss. Once I've looked at a subject and decided I can't help or add anything I don't open it again. I use a Mac and Apple Mail does a great job of threading a subject. My inbox stays pretty clean. Subjects that really pique my interest get saved to separate folder with a meaningful name so I can refer to them in the future. The traffic will have to get down to a crawl before I move to Twitter or FaceBook. Hi Linda I would agree with you that it can be annoying to find several posts copied back to the list where just a pertinent part of the one you are replying to would suffice but I really don't think its stopping people posting Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) > > I don't meant to stir up controversy but it would be more encouraging to > post on here if every poster would not leave the original post, in addition > to what they have to say about it. > > Sincerely, > Linda
I'm on several lists other than genealogy and the traffic comes and goes on all with no explanation.
