Words of caution....if you have any problems with your old file it does not transfer over until you have corrected the errors. And if you do not know what the errors are or where they are located, then it is extremely difficult. I have answered this before and had kept using my old FTM 2006 on my Windows 7 computer with no problems. Then suddenly I did have a problem and went and bought the 2012 FTM, only to find that I could not transfer my file. Spent over 3 hours on the phone with tech support and they had no clue or way of resolving my problem. She did explain how to export individuals one at a time or a group, which is what I am now doing. I now am transferring small groups of individuals at a time to locate where there are errors (I have over 3,000 individuals). I select 10-30 people and transfer to the FTM 2012. If it fails then I start deleting and adding back individuals from the transfer list until it is successful and by doing this I locate what individual I have a problem with. These people will have to be added separately into FTM 2012 with all the info that I have collected. I have spent over 40 hours attempting to transfer and I still have a long way to go to have a complete file, and then I am not sure if it really is complete. Also, you must compact your file before doing the transfer. If you are unable to compact your file it is due to errors and it will not transfer. I also asked if there was a file limit and tech support did not know the answer. I now have a new tower and it has o7 version loaded on it. I was using xp and have FTM 05 on it. Question: Will this load on to 07, or should I get 2012 and transfer everything? I don't want to open a can of worms here J so you can answer off line at eastcyr@cox.net Thanks Emery *****************
