The obits are always in a smaller font than most of the paper with classified excepted. Has anyone ever figured out how those prices compare to commercial ad space? I am wondering if bundling obits and buying ad space would save money, or could. I don't mean to be morbid about it but the newspapers obits are, in a way. When I was growing up the local newspaper used to have a spelling contest and the object was to find the misspelled words in a certain ads, those ads were not named but they may have had to pay more for the privilege. This got everyone reading the ads to find the misspelled words. They were mailed in and a winner picked - I think the prize was $5.00. There are many people whose day isn't complete unless they read the obits and they would read all the ads to find them. (I don't happen to be one of them.) But, there needn't be a prize - more of a communnity service by the advertuzer. Barbara in MA
