I've run into a latin term that I'm perplexed by. instead of being avi or avis, it appears to be avile. there is no ovile/ouile in the latin for genealogists listing, and I do know it's a relationship word. does anyone know if this is a variant spelling, or does it have a special meaning? if you wish to see it, go to the Bas-Rhin (Alsace) archives and look for a death of Francois Weyrauch, 7 Jan 1821, Altenstadt. I can't send a link, it just directs you to the license agreement. the latin for genealogists site is here; http://www.genproxy.co.uk/latin.htm [1] Links: ------ [1] http://www.genproxy.co.uk/latin.htm
Cornelia I don't see any similar word -- Latin or French -- to "avile". Basically, I read Declaration of death in the town of Altenstadt, department of Bas0Rhic, in thecifil office at three hours of 7 January, 1821. The name of the decedent is Josyah Meyrauch Age "onze"? iborn in Altenstatt. Something about where he lives, and currently lives there. His father's name and profession is Jean Meyrauch, farmer Mother is Caroline Weiss The information is given by Jean Meyrauch. The second informant is: Paul Betzer, of age, Lecture faite, l'Officier de l'etat civil a signe avec les declarans. -- If that is your "ave?" "Avec" is "with" Let me know if this helps. Or, where the word is.
