    3. Hi Listers Can someone tell me if there is a way to alphabetize the lists of hits in FamliySearch?  I look at the number of hits and they are in the thousands and the names are all jumbled.  I give u p long before I get through all of them.  My limit is about 200.:} There doesn't seem to be any order to them.  Many of them are not even close to what I am looking for. Thank  you Barbara in MA

    3. You need to narrow your search parameters. You can do this by clicking the exact button on first name or last, using a birth date range and clicking exact, etc...I would only use one exact at a time, if you try to make everything exact, you are less likely to get a hit. If making the last name exact, do it individually with all of the know spellings of the name. Also, put as much info as you can in, such as spouse name, parents names, birthdate and place, etc. The matches that are the closest to your parameters will be on top above a line, and under the line will be the ones that aren't so close. > Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2012 00:25:25 +0000 > From: bayofcc@comcast.net > To: ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ROOTS-L] familysearch > > > > > Hi Listers > > > Can someone tell me if there is a way to alphabetize the lists of hits in FamliySearch? 3. Unless I am searching a very unusual name I search by individual databases. But take a look at your results page, they have put in many limiters, I still don't think it is as good as the pilot search site but you can add parents and spouses name, years of events and so on. I too feel stunned by all the hits <G> but they can be beaten into submission <G> Eliz On Sun, Apr 1, 2012 at 8:25 PM, Barbara Young <bayofcc@comcast.net> wrote: > > > > Hi Listers > > > Can someone tell me if there is a way to alphabetize the lists of hits in FamliySearch?  I look at the number of hits and they are in the thousands and the names are all jumbled.  I give u p long before I get through all of them.  My limit is about 200.:} > > There doesn't seem to be any order to them.  Many of them are not even close to what I am looking for. > > > > Thank  you > > Barbara in MA > ===== > If you would prefer digest mode to mail mode, drop a note to roots-admin@rootsweb.com and ask for the digest... > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
