Hi all, I can't find either of the above names in the 1881 census! In the 1871 census they were living at 18 Flint Street Bromley. I have played hide and seek with them for other areas and other years, but to no avail! I shall keep looking but I am sure that I will not be able to find them anywhere! Hope that you can find them for me. Thanks very much. Di
Diane, I strongly believe that the "James" listed in 1881 is the same as the Josiah listed in 1871. Both are listed as smiths for their occupations, and the 1881 "James" is 30, as would have been a Josiah. Both addresses are 10 Flint St. (Not 18) I think the enumerator made a mistake because with the exception of being listed as "Josh", Josiah is never referred to as James again and James H is still referred to as James H Gosling. Yes, I do think that you are right about this now, and now that is THE END OF THIS PROBLEM!! Never to be mentioned again to people on this or any other list!!
