I am looking for an obituary for William James Lowrie. He was usually known as W. J. or William Lowrie. He was born in Enfield, CT in 1849. By 1870 he was living in San Francisco, CA where he married Tillie Petty in 1875. By 1881 he and Tillie were living in Sprecklesville, (sugar plantation) Maui, Hawaii. 1900 found them at Ewa sugar mill on Oahu, Hawaii. By 1905 he was in Porto Rico with his family living in Brooklyn, NY. Passenger lists show them traveling back and forth from Porto Rico, Cuba and at times Costa Rica. 1910 and 1915 census shows the family in Brooklyn, NY. 1920 they are in Pomfret, Chatauqua Co., NY. By 1930 they were in Miami, FL. William was buried 5 Jan. 1931 in Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY. They had 3 children, Walter A. Lowrie b. 1877 in San Francisco, Clara Petty Lowrie b 1882 in Hawaii, and William J. Lowrie [Jr.] b. 1891 in Hawaii. I have searched GenealogyBank, Newspapers.com and NewspaperArchives. An obituary could appear in any newspaper in his areas of residence. Nancy Lowrie Wright
