The 1900 census of Fish Pond, Bamberg County, has 224/227 Uriah Carry, head, b June 1870, 20, married ten years, he and parents b SC, farm laborer Mary, wife, b Feby 1878, 22, m/10 yrs, two children, two living. She and parents b SC David, son, Mch 1893, 7 Charlie, son, Dec 1894, 5. The previous residence has Mary Carter, head, b May 1829, ae 71 widow, five children, two living. SC SC SC Wilson, son, Jan 1865, 37, single Bery (or Beny) grandson, May 1881, 19, single Johny, daughter, Mch 1886, 14, single. The next family up is Charles Steedley, b Feb 1829, with a nephew and niece. I find a Wilson Carter, 53, with niece Johner W, 22 and nephew Taft, 6/12, in Fish Pond in 1910. There is another Carter family next door, but no sign of the Carroll family. Charles Carroll, b ca 1894, is living as a boarder with the John Steedly (or Studly) family in Fish Pond, a boarder, age 16, a farm laborer "at home" (presumably on this farm). This particular Uriah Carroll has a death record listing his birth as June 21 1867, death 14 Apr 1934 of Bright's Disease. He is widowed. His parents are listed as: Father Charley Carroll, Sr, b Bamberg County, mother [?] Nevels. Informant is Charley Carroll Jr. That MAY be the Charles Carroll listed as the boarder with the Steedlys. One Glover Cleveland Carroll of Bamberg, Bamberg County, b Apr 19, 1889, d 8 Jun 1915, has father listed as Charle Carroll and ? Emma (is this her first or last name??) Informant is Tellman Carroll. It is curious that there are all these Carrolls, and they almost do not show up on the census. I find in cases like this that I sometimes need to "start over" and work up from the parents. For example, I don't even find Uriah (could this be Eddie?), Sarah or Annie Laurie. They should be on the 1910 census. Where were they???? Tell us more and we may be able to help. Thanks for sharing the 1900 census info. Did locate the 1910 census for Uriah Carroll [listed as Euli], found as the widowed brother-in-law of Cooper Gunnells, age 52 (wife Sallie is Uriah's sister). The three named children are living there as well, in Buford Bridge, Bamberg County, SC. Also found the death record for Charlie Carroll, born 17Sep1894, whose parents are listed as Uriah Carroll and Mary Smoak. The surname of Uriah's second wife is Carter, whom he married after 1900.
