I addressed this to Curtis and now see that should have been Patricia. Gale On Feb 26, 2017, at 7:42 AM, GALE GORMAN <gale_gorman@me.com> wrote: Curtis, Has to be a different set of GORMANs. My immigrant was William GORMAN, 1803-1851, and he was from Clogheen, Tipperary. His parents are buried not far from there. There were quite a few brothers and at least one sister but not one named Phillip and the last of the family born in Ireland was in 1819. I have traced William in Ireland through the 1821 census and then he was in Alabama for the 1830 U.S. census. Hopefully I’ll fill in that 9 year gap some day. Two of the brothers, John and Patrick, I haven’t found beyond Ireland so there could be more of us out there or they could have died early. The original records were handwritten and the “o” often looked like an “e”. In addition to that, a lot of people just did not read and/or write so they relayed their information orally and a clerk wrote down what they heard.
