Maybe I assumed incorrectly that you want to know this information to determine a DNA match...but the information is the same regardless. This person is also the other person's great-grandfather. Since you didn't mention the DNA match sharing the 3rd great-grandMOTHER I'm going to assume they do not. So that would mean the relationship is halved if they don't share the same wife of this common ancestor. Your great-granddaughter's 2nd great-grand is a sibling of the other person's grandfather/grandmother. Your great-granddaughter's great-grandfather/grandmother is the 1st cousin of the other person's father/mother. So the other person and your great-granddaughter are 2nd cousins twice removed. It is easier to view this from the standpoint of the cousin who is fewer generations removed from the MRCA: his great-grandfather. Great-grandchildren of a common ancestors are 2nd cousins. Since your great-grandchild is two more generations removed again, that makes them 2nd cousins twice removed (or half 2nd cousins twice removed). I keep looking at the charts and can't figure it out. I'm definitely too old for this...... ===== If you would prefer digest mode to mail mode, drop a note to roots-admin@rootsweb.com and ask for the digest... ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message ===== If you would prefer digest mode to mail mode, drop a note to roots-admin@rootsweb.com and ask for the digest... ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
