    3. So sorry for your loss. What I was saying about the Scandinavian...that is fine if you were expecting it but it it was more than expected it could also be due to British or Germanic ancestry or any Northwestern European. Italian (although not 30%) could also be just about all of Europe considering Roman Empire influence. The ethnicities can be pretty ancient. The Scandinavian part is not a problem, wifes surname was Johnson, have it back to Sweden in 1680. My big problem is the 30% Italian, would have to be on fathers side (originally from N. Jersey) Would have to be between 1840 to 1870 and just not finding them in the genealogy. And with a 30% rating you would have to assume a very close relation or relative. > > If a great-grandmother was only partly Native American I would not expect to find a high percentage of NA DNA. If the NA great-grandparent was full-blooded NA the average would only be about 12.5%...and less than full-blooded would be less...or possibly not showing at all. If there is Mexican inheritance that alone could account for NA DNA as the Mexican people usually have a fairly significant NA percentage. This part I get, and sad to say her mom passed last weekend, I'd have liked to have had some closure on her mom's side and still wondering if the info that wife's sister has would have been a clue.Since she she promised me months ago she'd send the info. jan ===== If you would prefer digest mode to mail mode, drop a note to roots-admin@rootsweb.com and ask for the digest... ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
