I scan and save everything in one folder, but I name each photo or document etc. beginning with the name and birth year of the person to whom the file is linked. For example:Berry Spradley b1862 death certificate.jpg ... orBerry Spradley b1862 1920 census.jpg It works well for me. One listed under my maiden name only putting my family in that one. Second I listed the 2nd one under my husband's name and only put his direct family in the second one. As in the beginning I had found that through divorce my cousin had married a cousin of his. Both a second marriage for each. Do u understand what I did to not be confused as to whom was married to who? Hope this helps-It sure did me. No mistakes as to married or belonged to whom later in life. I switched to Roots Magic last week and plan to buy a new MacBook Pro tomorrow. Is there a right or wrong or is it just personal preference?
