    3. Hi List Hope you are all well. I have a question please re Draft records please. As you all know I have been doing research on HENRY FULLER for a long time now and there has been a little bit of confusion as he is mentioned as being black on his draft record. Now one of his descendants have made this statement and I would like some clarification (and education) on this please. The below is the statement made:- As a substitute Henry did not have a draft record. He would have a Substitute Volunteer Enlistment record. If he had a draft record he would not have been able to serve as a substitute. Is this statement correct or not please. He was a substitute and I do have a draft record for him, living in Leechburg, Co. Armstrong when he enlisted. I have an ancestry sub at the moment so any direction as to records re this Substitute Volunteer Enlistment record would be great. Kindest regards Dianna

    3. You can occupy your self with http://www.pacivilwar.com/ Pennsylvania Civil War Soldiers - Free PA genealogy. www.pacivilwar.com/ Use this free Pennsylvania database to help with your genealogy search. ... as an index to Samuel P. Bates' History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865 . ... Pennsylvania Civil War draft and substitute lists for various PA counties. ... Lists the veteran's name or widow's name, rank, year ofenlistment, and year of discharge. Then I googled for the Substitute list and got lots of mentions but none to Ancestry for That db And then there is Dr Gates post which talks of substitute lists http://www.theroot.com/tracing-your-roots-was-my-civil-war-vet-ancestor-an-ov-1793131471 and since it is Dr Gates there are links to lots of records of Black soldiers. It contains links to U.S., Colored Troops Military Service Records, 1863-1865 at Ancestry is http://search.ancestry.com/search/db.aspx?dbid=1107 Eliz Not Today and Not without a Fight (Anon) For all that has been, thanks.
