I mentioned previously that one can go to www.rootsmagic.com and download RootsMagic 7 which will allow one to install the full RM7 program on either a Windows computer or a Mac. Both programs come on the same CD version and the download version. One could then create a sharable cd which is read only and would allow one to look at everything in your database. You would likely need to purchase the program to get the sharable CD option rather than getting just the free version which does not have all the features. I have the paid version so I cannot check out the features for the free one. I do not know what the Wintel platform is. A free way to share your database with everyone that I did not think of earlier is to upload your gedcom to WorldConnect at www.rootsweb.com and then send your relatives the proper url link to the website in the place you want them to look. This should be for dead people however, and not living relatives. But if you want to send the living people this will not work unless you indicate "dead" in the proper place for the living people you wish to include in the gedcom you submit. I want myself to show up in my WorldConnect database, so I just give my birth year and check the nonliving box and I show up when WorldConnect searches and tries to eliminate living people. Thank you all for the suggestions. I will check those out. I wrote "Some use Mac, some Wintel, so I would like recommendations for both." Apparently I should have written "Some use Mac so I want Mac software for them. Some use Wintel so I want Wintel software for them." As I said, low price and ease of viewing are important. If anyone has further suggestions, I will welcome them too. adTHANKSvance!
