I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as "Steamers built by John BURKE or BUNKE (handwriting is a bit difficult to make out) of Reads Landing, MN - on the Mississippi River 1800's". The names of the boats appears to be "Ida Campbell" and "Iowa City" and "Minne_tta". The mast covers one letter on the last boat so I cannot determine the full name. I'm guessing that the photograph was taken in the 1870's. Someone has also glued a newspaper article on the back of the photograph about a River Skipper named Captain E. E. HEERMAN who captained boats on the upper Mississippi River from the 1850's to 1880's. I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to a member of the builders family and would appreciate you contacting me if you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be. Thanks, Shelley
