We have made many improvements to our Pennsylvania Death Certificate Index. Place names have been converted from abbreviations and the index now includes hospital names based on the 2 digit hospital codes found in the printouts from the state archives. There are nearly 20,000 names in the database and updates will be made monthly. We have also added a few aids to help researchers extract as much info as possible from the state archive printouts. We have created charts to help convert county code numbers, decipher place names, and determine hospitals and private facilities. We have moved the index and research aids to our free resource site, Record Hunter Search (RHSearch.com). http://www.rhsearch.com/pa-death-index.php Rootsweb is a great resource for researchers to assist one another; as such, this email is meant as an informational post and not a discussion. If you should encounter an issue with the website, or wish to provide feedback, please use the site's contact form. TD Maloney Chief Research and Offerings Officer Historica Research and Records
