Thank you Liz, I will delete the term quarter horse in my research. I got the quarter horse info. from a very old letter written by the great granddaughter of Thomas. She wrote that her grandfather (grandson of Thomas) brought his quarter horses to Canada in 1818 in the hold of an old sailing ship. He did arrive in Canada in 1818 and was quickly in business. I have always wondered about that as her grandfather had an annual horse race on his land in Port Hope. It was a big deal according to a 1851 newspaper article, with about 1500 people attending which was a whole lot of people for that area. The reason I wondered is that her grandfather and his sons owned and ran a stage coach line and a Inn/tavern. He probably used his stage coach horses in the race but I don't know for sure. JBletch

I think I would ask some of the bloggers who answer this kind of question all the time. At first, I thought for sure you were correct, Barton, but then I thought back to how many items never get recorded. So, I'm wishy washy I guess. Laura
Apparently there is some problem with the Rootsweb’s WorldConnect system. Not only won’t my updated gedcom process on the site, but the HELP contact form system is also not working? Perhaps someone can explain what is happening and when the system may be working again. Margaret Scheffler
Hi Pat Thanks very much for going to this trouble, I needed all the help I could get with it, most confusing. Yes Magdalena is the widow of Nelson FULLUM the William mentioned is the eldest son and co executor of Nelsons will, all the others are the remaining 6 sons. Yes Nelson died in Robinson Twp in Washington County! Now I will try and find out more on this land purchase in OHIO by Nelson FULLUM. Strangely enough the Barton's buy some land from NELSON Fullum in 1829 in Robinson Twp, a few months before Nelson's death. Thank you very much for your analysis. I don't recall the relationships. Is Magdelena the widow of Nelson? If so, Isaac, a son, and the other heirs, were paid by their mother, Magdelena, and William (a son?) $180 for their share of property that Nelson bought from the Bartons. The property transfer was confirmed in 1832. The property is in Ohio, Belmont County, Township 6 north, Range 4 West. Complicating matters is that the section numbers do not match the BLM-General Land Office system. It is in the position where Section 33 would normally be. I don't know why, have never checked out the Ohio quirks before. The property is southwest of Wheeling, West Virginia. It's also about 60 miles southwest of Robinson Twp, PA. The reason the quit claim is in Robinson Twp, Washington County, PA, is likely because that's where the probate for Nelson was handled. I've seen these property changes related to probates being repeated in both jurisdictions, so there might be additional paperwork in Belmont County. Pat Dunford Tucson

I’m wondering if Nelson FULLOM owned this land mentioned in OHIO. I have tried contacting the person who handles the deeds in OHIO. A bit confusing this really as Nelson FULLOM sells land to James BARTON in 1829 before Nelson’s death in 1829 and then James BARTON refers to this indenture in 1832. Dianna Whereas JAMES BARTON of the township aforesaid and SARAH his wife by indenture dated the twenty third day of March A.D. 1832 did grant and confirm to the Heirs of NELSON FULLOM aforesaid deceased for the consideration there in mentioned a certain tract or parcel of land situate in BELMONT COUNTY State of OHIO being the East half of the North West Quarter of section nineteen Township Six of Range four containing eighty Acres and ninety hundredths. -----Original Message----- From: Lori Sent: Wednesday, March 1, 2017 12:02 PM To: roots@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ROOTS-L] Quit Claim/Deed Is it in regard to location? Dianne A quick read through sounds like this parcel had been previously sold by the Bartons to Nelson Fullom, and there is now a need to split up the "property rights" and this quick claim deed (for cash) removes all rights of some of the heirs of the Nelson to the property. You might want to get a copy of that tract. I don't live in Ohio so am not familiar with the way they handle land transactions. Maybe if you contact the County Register of Deeds, they could help you. I did a search and saw several very good explanations of what a Quit Claim Deed is and the circumstances that could be involved . ----- Original Message ----- From: "dianna charles" <diamonddi57@optusnet.com.au> To: roots@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, February 28, 2017 7:52:36 PM Subject: Re: [ROOTS-L] Quit Claim/Deed HI Gail I sort of know what a Quit claim is, I was hoping that someone could look at the one I have and perhaps explain it to me as there is references to land in OHIO that I don't quite understand. I am trying to find the location of the burial place for a Joseph Norman. Joseph Norman b-24 Apr 1860, Chicago, IL Died 6 Jun 1927, Joliet, IL His wife Phoebe is buried in the Holy Sepulcher Cem. Chicago, IL I tried FamilySearch, Find a Grave and the website for Holy Sepulcher Cem. his wife not listed in their online burial list either. Any help much appreciated JBletch
I just checked our library site and they have access to some newspapers. They also have a site you can get into for genealogy. I love Heritage quest and they have some periodicals and books listed. Found some that I was sure had information on both my husbands and my family lines so was able to put the books on interlibrary loan and found some interesting items. I can also access things like Consumers Reports magazines and that has been helpful when we were interesting in purchasing something. Nadine
