    3. You need to narrow your search parameters. You can do this by clicking the exact button on first name or last, using a birth date range and clicking exact, etc...I would only use one exact at a time, if you try to make everything exact, you are less likely to get a hit. If making the last name exact, do it individually with all of the know spellings of the name. Also, put as much info as you can in, such as spouse name, parents names, birthdate and place, etc. The matches that are the closest to your parameters will be on top above a line, and under the line will be the ones that aren't so close. > Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2012 00:25:25 +0000 > From: bayofcc@comcast.net > To: ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [ROOTS-L] familysearch > > > > > Hi Listers > > > Can someone tell me if there is a way to alphabetize the lists of hits in FamliySearch? 3. Is there SKS in Norfolk who would have the time to find an obituary for the above name the next time he/she goes to the library? I’ve tried to locate an on-line obit and the only one that comes up is on a site that is apparently not compatible with my computer. This is the teaser from Google: 1.. Untitled Article demo.olivesoftware.com/Olive/ODE/.../default.aspx?href...Cached You +1'd this publicly. Undo NORFOLK - Alice V. McGougan, 96, died March 16, 2005, in a local hospital. ... She was the daughter of the late Dr. John J. Parker and Virginia C. Parker. Alice was the widow of Thomas McGougan and I want to document her death, but when I try to open the above teaser, all I get is an error message. I’ve tried NewspaperArchives and Genealogybank and neither has her obit. The only other sites are pay per view sites. I would appreciate it very much if someone could do that for me. 2. Philitus/Phitetus Pierce, was born Nov 6 1827 in Springfield, Sangamon Co. Illinois, died Sept 24 1902 in Taylor, Buffalo co., Nebraska. I found him on the 1900 census in Sartoria County in Illinois. He was written up "Biographical Souvenir of Buffalo county" I am looking for his grave, have search the cemeteries that have a data base, with no luck. His wife Louisa Noyes Pierce died in 1908, in Little Sioux, Harrison Co., Iowa, she was living with a married daughter. I went through the cemetery on line, in that city, but she wasn't there. I am just not having any luck at all, this was a man who lived for years in Nebraska, and was well known. Sully

    3. JOHN B. WILSON: (Update) Recently I posted a query (Rootsweb) asking for John B. Wilson's parents information and place of birth. Yesterday a response - from another family tree user (Ancestry) - provided that information. They had "just" found that information. Their information provided John B's father name (John Wilson) / place of birth (Ireland) and his mother's name (Margaret McLain) / a native of the Keystone State. Using that information I followed my family forward into Illinois - - - To access this information google "History of Fulton, Illinois" (pages 503/504). I've updated that information - into my family trees (Ancestry) - for others to use - - - Again - thanks to "all" Rootsweb users - for information they provide to / for "others" - "Smile" Gerry Lang

    2. ANSWER TO BELOW: Shirley, You didn't mention a surname or even a time frame or the County/Counties involved, and Nebraska has some of the worst records on line but there are some places you might try and find what you're looking for. Find a Grave is a good place to start and some others which I have put in below. If none of them work to find what you're looking for I would suggest that if you have the County and/or Counties where the person might have died then contact the Library and the Historical Society of the county/counties involved. Sometimes they have information that is not on line but will gladly furnish it for a small price usually. They say they are free, but than you have to give a lot of info, and a credit card number. I looked through several web sites, even one that is always referred to as the State Genealogy, and it's just one disappointment after another. I went through several that looked legitimate and kept putting in what I was looking for, with no good answers. It is so frustrating to waste a couple of hours, looking for a real genealogy site you can trust. Especially as I am up there in years and can't travel as I once could, I get discouraged. I only have a little time left to get what I must for my family tree, don't like to waste it on sites that are greedy and only looking for the all might buck !!!! Shirley Sullivan
