Hi Alta, when I click on Bruce's name after it comes up in the search results the gray box to the left has a white box overlaid on top of it with the message "the original message is viewable at ancestry.com" and underneath that another link to ancestry saying "At ancestry.com you can view, print, and save the original image" (ha! Not in this case.) Below that, there is a clickable link that says "Visit partner site." Ancestry seems to be the only option in this case for seeing this image. To see the image on Family Search: 1. Click on the name of the searched-for person. 2. Click on "Explore viewing options" in the grey box at the left - pale print on a white background and hard to see. 3. Click on "Sign in." 4. Type in your user name and password or create a new account. 5. Click on Sign In. 6. This takes you to the "indexed page" that you were at before but now it says "view image" in the box. 7. Click on "View Image" and read the original census page. Unfortunately, the indexers on Heritage Quest made mistakes the same as the ones on the other sites did. I also want to see the original image. I don't trust the indexers' spelling and I want to see the info that's not in the index. I hope this helps. Barton, Fold3.com offers free images of the 1930 census and well as some other census records/documents. I have downloaded the image and will forward it. You did not request the 1940 image, however, I downloaded it from FamilySearch. Suggestions: The human eye can see only 32 shades of gray. Computers can see 256 shades of gray. I downloaded the page and used Paint Shop Pro to do an Adjust:One Step Photo Fix. Had to apply that feature 5 times to get a really good reading. The graphics program converts those shades of gray that the human eye can't see to shades the eye can see. Even with all the graphics program enhancements, the names are very hard to read. THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE ANSWERED..I think we have the problem corrected and can now PRINT THE WORDS SPREAD SHEETS Have a nice safe week end Tom Temple
I assume you mean an Excel spreadsheet and I'm sure there are Excel forums much better equipped to help than a genealogy forum. I needed information from a message I sent back in February 2012 and was I surprised to find Comcast/Xfinity deleted my sent folder. I now only have sent files from June on! Hubby and I did not realize there was a setting in the Preferences (top of your e-mail screen) that you MUST change or it will delete your e-mails!! So check your preferences while you are at it.. I would agree to download all your e-mail onto your computer and do not keep it on Xfinity/Comcast site.. I use Microsoft Outlook! Sandy _______ Subject: ROOTS Digest, Vol 7, Issue 219 1. I have a Microsoft spread sheet completed that will need to print 19 pages of names When I click on the PRINT button I get the last page which shows 2 lines and then it will print only the Blank pages showing the line numbers only I have a HP desk top and the Works spread sheet Version 8 I have the Vista and would like to print the list. Some thing else I have to leave the Internet to Click on the Microsoft Spread sheet ? When I click on the View page it only shows have of the width I want to print What am I doing wrong. Thanks Tom T.
3B is not the page number. It's the sheet number. Go back to Ancestry, find the page you were looking at, and go back one page to sheet 3A. Somewhere at the top of the page is a stamped number. This was put on the page by a clerk somewhere along the line. It's not part of the original printing. That is the page number you need to find the page on Heritage Quest. Using the arrow to go to the next page should get you sheet 3B.
