Seek all data about the death of GEORGE HENRY JONES, born 1837 or 1843 Schuyler, Herkimer Co NY to Freeman and Margaret Jones. He served during Civil War in NY 126th Inf., moved to Broadalbin, Fulton Co NY with parents by 1870. He is in Broadalbin up until 1893, when his property was put up for sale at sheriff's auction. His first wife was Harriet N _________, had a daughter Ida born 1859 Schuyler. He filed for divorce 1874, while married to his second wife Hannah Wetherbee, later divorced, who died ca 1903, buried Broadalbin. George H Jones had a large lumbering business in Broadalbin and it was reported several times that he had disappeared in later years, found with large sums of money, even arrested at Saratoga. He acted strangely. I have found nothing about his death, though I suspect it could have occurred in jail, a poorhouse, or mental institution. And in the 1900 census, his ex-wife Hannah said she was widowed. That would mean he died between 1893 and 1900. No information in his military records. I'd love to learn what became of him, especially that he was a bit of a scoundrel. Any help or suggestions are most welcome, and I thank you very much. Lois

Hi, I am so proud of the men who volunteered to serve our country in the Revolutionary War. They were willing to fight and even died for the rights that we have today. So much of our Constition and the Bill of Rights are based upon what they fought for. I am trying to compile a paragraph on eac of the sons of Michael and Margaret Slaymaker FICKEL I know some of you are well versed on this war and hope someone can help. I have notes on the following Fickel/Fickle records but can't find the information. >From Maryland History Magazine Vol. 22 September 1927 No. 3 Daniel and Bejamin Fickel enlisted July 1, 1775 in Capt. Thomas Price's Company of the Riflemen of the United Colonies. They marched to Boston. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of this arrticle? I would like to know if there is more than just this short bit. I would especially like to know what this unit did in Boston? ISAAC FICKEL Served from Talbot Co. MD 1781. It is in the Archives of MD Vol 18 page 408. Does anyone know how I can get a copy of this page. WILLIAM WILSON. Husband of Esther Fickel I have a copy of the unit that Lieutenant William Wilson was in in Lancaster CO. PA. I am trying to find out more about his war record. He is buried in Ohio. Is there a way to find out what battles each of the units from Lancaster Pa and Frederick Co MD engaged in?? Thanks for any help that you can be. I do have the records from Fold3 so do not need them. Is it possible the Denham family bought the plot and wasn't sure who would be buried there? One of my relatives had a headstone next to his parent's graves and his stone only had one date so another genealogist assumed he died the day he was born. I contacted the person and told her the person wasn't buried there and was in his 60s. Gale On Jul 23, 2012, at 9:38 PM, John D. Kirsten, Thank you. I'll do some searching into Legacy. A modern Mac can run Windows software through several different apps that provide a pseudo hard drive. I've tried a couple of these and it bothers me that this pseudo drive is actually just another file that can be corrupted or even deleted. Sort of like throwing out the baby with the bath water. I ordered Reunion 10 last night and it appears to be a major upgrade. When it's up and running I'll look for these features and see if I got lucky. Reunion 9 is my choice for now. Some of the "little shaky leaves" have yielded some names and dates I didn't have just because the tree owner is a descendant of a female from my tree. It can be difficult to track a young lady after she marries and the problem gets compounded if court clerks didn't pay attention. The one that comes to mind was a sister of my great grandfather. Her name was Pauline Walker Gorman and she married a Baker but a marriage license application showed her as Pauline W. Gannon, not even close. She was a problem to track from the start. One census has her as Ratina, another as Perlina, yet another as Paulina, while the rest of the family came through just right. Do the others have a Source Clipboard where you can build a source citation and then attach it to any person or fact with a single click of the mouse? I couldn't live without that. And as David posted, Legacy syncs with new.FamilySearch (and surely will do the same with the LDS Family Tree once it's out of beta). I subscribe to Ancestry.com but don't care much about their little shakey leaves so syncing there isn't an issue. However, if you're strictly a Mac user, I get the impression that those folks are fairly well satisfied with Reunion. Maybe it's just a matter of what you're used to. Not finding a death but I did find this City Directory Name: Ruth Balding (Wid Anson) Location 2: 519 e 2d Year: 1893, 1894 City: Little Rock State: AR No proof there but I think it says he died 1892 or earlier. So I guess my questions are: how would you handle entering the data and what kind of event would you use for data such as jury lists and witnesseing or appearing as principal or secondary parties in deeds, etc. Thanks, Barton ===== If you would prefer digest mode to mail mode, drop a note to roots-admin@rootsweb.com and ask for the digest... ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to ROOTS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
There are lots of Henry J. Soule mentions at Old Fulton http://fultonhistory.com/Fulton.html Some likely are he but others one hundred years earlier you would, I think, do better if you searched Henry Fulton <G> Good luck Eliz On Mon, Jul 23, 2012 at 10:52 AM, <carola1243@aol.com> wrote: > I would appeciate anyone who has the ability to look up an > Obituary for Henry J. The entries on the 1940 can be corrected if they have been indexed. It is a bit gnarly you have to click on the name itself and it can be iffy about coming up, but when it does it is a box with the name typed in as they have it. You then need to get your cursor to get there (I have had some trouble *G*) and type in what you need to. It isn't like the others where you have a box all the way to the left <G> I think each field on the 1940 can be corrected. I did say I had found them but it was quite a feat as it took me all day. They are in a section of the 1940 census where the names are quite faded on the page. Luckily I know the first names and ages and where to begin looking via the 1930 census. Also having my grandmother Ethel's death certificate let me know where they were living in 1951. My Boswell family (John D, Ethel, Carroll, Lucille, Junior, Leonard & Robert) is listed in Enumeration District 71-11. On the Ancestry.com viewer it is listed as page 26 of 38. On the census form they are listed on lines # 53-59. > > As I understand another member suggested Ancestry's data base will not have the ability to be corrected until it's indexed. I just checked and according to Ancestry.com it is indexed. The problem lies with not being able to put their name into the search and come up with their name, and 'm sure this is because their name is listed as unknown on the census. I know it's listed this way as a bar pop's up on the far left side of the Ancestry.com viewer showing who is on each line. On my Boswell family it comes up as unknown. > > So again my question is, does anyone know at this time how we submit changes to Ancestry.com to let them know who is on this line? I spent over 30 minutes clicking on links in Ancestry to find an e-mail contact in which to send it along to. > > Thanks again, Sandy > > _________________ Sandy,You didn't give any names or other clues as to your family but Nebraska has > been indexed.
