Log into Ancestry Select the tree you want from the Family Tree menu (next to Home) With that tree selected, to right of Tree name, select Tree Pages and from drop down menu select Tree Settings On the right you will find "Your home person in this tree" with the name currently set and under it (change) Nivard Ovington in Cornwall (UK) On 12/05/2014 19:23, Yahoo wrote: > > Is there a way you can type in the tree name to pull it up on ancestry? > Also I still can't figure out how to change the home person > > Thanks so much for helping me!

You can also send an invitation to whomever you please and it will include a link to your tree. With your tree on the screen, just to the right of your title you should see "Tree Pages" and that is a pull-down menu for managing your tree. Explore that and then come back for more if you need it. I'm not thrilled with the way Ancestry handles or displays trees. I do like the "hints" feature. When another tree on Ancestry has a name also in your tree you will get an email notice so you can verify or reject this is the same person. Good luck Gale Gorman Houston

If your friends are not ancestry subscribers, you need to send them invitations. Or, alternatively, you could upload your gedcom to Worldconnect at Rootsweb, which is truly publicly accessible. If your friends are ancestry subscribers, then (assuming your tree is a Public one), once it has been indexed (which may not happen for a few months), they can search for key people in it. Until it gets indexed, if they click on Collaborate in the top menu, if you have given them your username, they can search for you that way, and one of the options in the list (I think your profile) is to see the list of trees that you have uploaded. One advantage of WorldConnect which I like is you can upload a revised gedcom and the tree keeps the same address, with Ancestry Member Trees, you either revise it live on the web or with FamilyTreeMaker, or when you upload a new version, it gets a totally different Tree ID. > 2 it picked a random name as home person. Is it possible to change > that? The Gedcom I uploaded had me as home person. Yes, on the main page, there is a choice to reset that, but I do not have access to give you the details. You click on the arrow by your tree name, and select something like Manage Tree. Or just go to trees.ancestry.com and it may give your tree name and you click on Manage Tree.
