I am hoping to find information on this couple in Portugal. On Joaquin's WW1 draft registrtion in Mendocino Co, California, he gives a birth location of Balavais (not sure of this spelling as it was hard to read) Alentego Portugal. On the WW11 draft registration he said he was born in Lisbon Portugal. His DOB was 20 Oct 1887. Anna Musca was born 2 June 1890. They were married in Portugal & had one son there, Joseph. They emigrated from Portugal & came to Hawaii on the ship, Willesden, on 3 Dec. 1911. Joseph was born about 1901. Family history has them from Beja. Also, the spelling of the last name might have been de Pontes in Portugal. He is shown on a surrender of alien certificate as Pontes. But subsequently all spelling were shown as Ponts. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Judy

Greetings All, A friend was checking thru some newspapers here in Illinois and came up with a clue that my wifes gr-gradmother had a brother, no name mentioned in paper but gave at least a starting point to look, it was in the Nov-Dec 1919 issue of the paper. So I was goofing around on ancestry and came up with a name that was a bust, but having the list of Guitterez spellings I might have lucked out and found her brother. 1st dumb question is would a 1919 death cert list parents? I have no idea who the father was but mother should be Lucy/Lucille/Luz Bowman, if mother is correct I need fathers name. What I have is Bruno Guiterez died 7 Oct 1919 age 36, at the end of the listing gives state something or other and a number of 39153. Could someone in l.A. have a peek at the death cert and send parents names if I'm correct that his mother is indeed Lucy Bowman? Thanks! jan

it's legit. However, if anyone try that link to Pennsylvania Death Certificate Index, it's a hassle and ordering when the certificates themselves are now available online through Ancestry.com, currently up to 1944. David, thank you for the feedback. The Death Cert index is just an index...a finding aid more than anything else. Though our commercial site sells a variety of documents, records, and publications, DigitalCambria does NOT sell PA State death certificates. The index was started before the records became available online...and not everyone has access to Ancestry. A major update is underway that will add several thousand names and make the index easier to use. I'll refrain from responding to future emails as I do not wish to appear as if I'm using the list as a personal platform. Additionally, each of our sites allows users to email us direct feedback. I thank everyone for the warm reception and support.
