    2. AA PADILLA
    3. Dear Joan: Welcome to the list! Hope you enjoy your tenure as administrator. I am researching ancestors in the County of Socorro and surrounding areas In New Mexico. My family has been there for centuries. The Romeros in my family are on my mothers side. My mothers grandfather was named Isaias Romero and married to Estanislada Bustos. I can go back 3 or 4 generations in the Romero line and then it stops. I am having trouble connecting my family with the original Romeros that came with Onate expedition. I am missing just one generation to connect them. My real stumbling block is my grandmother Estanislada Bustos. I can't seem to get past her mother Eulogia Armijo/Venancia/Bingham/Baca/Bustos. She went by all these last names! I know this isn't the list to put this out on, but I just thought maybe someone from that area has relatives connected to these Romeros who might remember Eulogias parents????? My fathers lines are gonzales, chavez, miera and others. All in the Socorrow county and surrounding area. I love genealogy and I am researching my husbands line who is also from New Mexcio but from the northern area county of San Miguel and Santa Fe. My husbands lines are Padilla, chavez, archuleta, garcia, Crespin and others. Thanks for any connections! 3. Hello All, Just a quick note to let everyone know that I am the new administrator of this mailing list. Taking over a mailing list is a lot like walking into a theater during the middle of a movie and not having any idea of the plot. So I would like to kick things off with a ROLL AND BRICKWALL call. So please post your ancestors and most of all let us know what your BRICKWALLS are. The Mailing List THREE GOLDEN RULES. #1. BE NICE. No flaming of others or nasty criticisms of posts. #2. KEEP ON TOPIC. By that I mean genealogy. No virus reports, or commercial advertising, etc. Rootsweb has lists for many topics to serve all needs. #3. HAVE FUN! Helpful Hint: Remember to change the Subject Line when you reply to this message with your own surnames. :-) If you have any questions or comments that do not belong on-list please contact me at: jasche45133@aol.com. 3. Hi y'all, I'm still around, and reading the e-mail. The Romero line from New Iberia is my bunch, too. I haven't been too active in the research work lately, but am still digging when I can. Don't forget, we still have our good Malaga contact via our "bon cousin" Jose Manuel de Molina, who lives in the little town of Alhaurin de la Torre, the place where several of the New Iberia founders came from. Also, if it comes down to it, I can do a little bit with the Spanish translations, too. Abrazos, Norman

Anyway, how have you been, been fine here. Don't remember if I told you, but we lost Dad in 2000, and Pop Saintne in 2001. Well, I guess the big question is, have you found Miquels' parents? I have sent an email to the Catholic Diocese in Malaga, Spain, but have not heard anything yet. Will keep you all updated. I wish I could speak Spanish, but you know we were left with the Cajun French language, which sounds alot like the Spanish, but not spelled the same. Anyways, keep in touch, the email is the same. 3. Caroline, One of your message mentioned some of the Romero's were in the Lafourche Parish area at one time. On HeritageQuest Online, the 1830 US census is not indexed. As best as I could I put the names of individuals shown as head of household on the 1830 US census for Lafourche parish, as well as the census page #'s where those names were found on an excel spreadsheet. If you think it might be of help to you, let me know and I'll e-mail a copy to you. I didn't put in all the little numbers, but the spreadsheet can help one go directly to the appropriate census page instead of having to search every single page. The Hernandez family and Domingue family is closely associated with the Romero Family. Marie Eustache ROMERO, daughter of Diego Romero and Marie Marrero, married Andre Sanchez, son of Pierre/Pedro Sanchez and Marie Hernandez. I have a question about Vincent Hernandez, Marie's brother, which I hope one of you can answer. Vincent HERNANDEZ and his wife, Jeanne (Maria Juana) Cavallero/Caballero, had a son Pierre, born Jan 13, 1803. That is all I know about him and I was wondering if any of you had more information on him. Vincent had another son named Pierre Lucas Hernandez born in 1797, but he died in infancy. Among my paternal great great grandparents were Sebastian Sosthene Martinez and his wife, Marie Hernandez. Sebastian Sosthene Martinez was a son of Joseph Antonio Martinez and Therese Hernandez. Therese Hernandez was a daughter of Vincent HERNANDEZ and his wife, Jeanne (Maria Juana) Cavallero/Caballero. My great great grandmother, Marie Hernandez, wife of Sebastian Sosthene Martinez, is one of my "Brick Wall" lines. Her parents were Pierre or Pedro Hernandez and Anna Maria or Anna Marie Domingue. I am trying to learn more about the ancestry of Pierre or Pedro Hernandez and Anna Maria or Anna Marie Domingue. J. Wostal

I have seen quite a few individual files, and have seen Miquel's parents are Diego and Marie Marrero. I am still after all these years, not convinced of this. The only proof I can find of Diego and Marie Marrero are a couple in the Baton Rouge Diocese Records of a couple of these same names, but they are much younger than our Miquel. You may see some files that Diegue Romero and Marie Marrero were the parents of Miguel Manuel of New Iberia, m. to Marie DeGrano, but this is not a fact. Diegue was approx. 13 years younger than my Miguel, this may have been his brother, cousin, but not father of Miguel, nor Miguel his father.
