We descend from Miguel Romero and Marie Grano, one of the Spanish founding families of New Iberia. If you are in the New Iberia area, look up Ogle in the phone book, we are the only one in there and give me a call. I have most all the Romero line from 1779, when they founded New Iberia till around the year of 1900. I have not done from 1900- present except my line. Give me a call. I am presently working on Miguel and Marie in Spain, with no luck as of yet.

I live in Coteau, which is probably where he was from and probably related to me, but I don't have him listed in my files, but have many cousins who might. One of the names on the index, I was unable find. I searched pages before and after. Also on all of these census record searches, I did come across ROMERO entries that did not seem to be indexed, at least not under the ROMERO spelling. Print on several of the pages wes blurred or light and therefore, not easy to decipher. I did not search through 1910 Census Records for Romero families in Lafayette Parish or Vermilion Parish, but I searched the Iberia Parish census for 1910 looking through every indexed Romero family for Edwin/Edvin/Eddie and Anita Romero. She died March 7, 2005, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. She was a creative lady, enjoying painting - capturing on canvas or paper the scenes and activities around her. She found satisfaction in working with flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her mother. Surviving are her husband, Obe Altman of the home; three sons, Michael Martinez of California, Dennis Lynch Jr. of Fordland and Ethan Lynch Moore of Houston; her father of California; three sisters, one brother and two grandchildren. Services are 1 o'clock today (Thursday) at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.

But last Tuesday, Azel Donald Galbraith was hung on the same gallows for the murder last year of his wife and 5 year old son.
