    1. [ROLL-CALL-L] Re: Wallace's in Hopkins Co., TX >>>>Several Families>MS>AR>LA>TX
    2. Hi Jimmy Kerr ! The Wallace's are on my Grandmother's side of the family. She was Roxxie Anne Milner. Her parents were Ida Irene Franklin Phillips and William Hanley Milner. Ida's parents were Tom Henry Price Phillips and Esther (Easter?) Wallace - born 2 May 1847 in MS. Esther's siblings were 1) John Pryor Wallace b. circa 1850 in Jonesboro, MS d. 1929 in Reilly Springs, Hopkins Co., TX. I don't agree with this date--he could not have been one of the first settlers if he was a child. It is more than likely in the late 1830's-early 1840's. He married 1. Jane James and 2. Sarah Bamberg Pickett.& 3. Lola Redding. 2) was ??Wallace female - married to J. C. May. Most of the information I have came from the book--The history of Reilly Springs. In it John Pryor Wallace is mentioned on several pages as a member of a wagon train of about one hundred people heading for Texas. The wagon train was made up of relatives and neighbors most from the Laurel Hill area and members of the Old Caroline Presbyterian Church and had attended school together, also. Esther Ann & her sister are also mentioned as passengers on this train - having travelled with their brother from MS. John P. Wallace's is listed as first stopping in Milam Co., TX, then Hunt Co., TX before settlilng in Reilly Springs. He is also mentioned in the section of early businessment in this community. He had 1) the first cotton gin, 2) a sawmill, and a large farm. He was a member of first the Presbyterian church and later the Methodist church. John had 3 wives. The first was Jane James. I don't know anything about her but the names of her two daughters: 1. Etta b. in MS, and 2. Mary (Bert) Lavert also b. in MS. She married W. M. Ledbetter. I have a cousin who is from this line also. #2. was Sara Bamburg Pickett. She was born in 1863 in Coshatta LA. & died in 1918. Her first husband was W.O. Pickett. The children in this family were: 1.>>Claud C. m. to Donnie Kids in Como, Hopkins Co., TX 2.>>Maud m. to Henry Swindell --the grandfather of the lady who wrote the book. They were married in Reilly Springs. 3.>>Opal m. to G. Oscar Lee 4.>>Beulah who died in infancy 5.>>Odie P. m. to Jessie Williams who was a Baptist minister. 6.>>Rozelle m. to Elmer J. Kirkbridge 7.>>Zola d. in 1921 See anyone who looks familiar???? Hope this helps.
