    1. ANDERSON - Newcastle 1871 Census

    3. Hi: I am hoping that someone can explain my confusion. I have just purchased a few microfiche from the N.D.F.H.S.. The microfilm that has me rather confused is 1871 Census Index of Newcastle - St. Andrews. Would someone possibly check the physical record in Newcastle? Does anyone have any suggestions on my next step? Solving the ANDERSON mystery I suspect will ultimately solve the question of how Margaret ANDERSON ended up with my Grandmother. There is a tie between all of these people to a Jeannie GIBSON (aka JANE/Jean/?) and Thomas HUNTER who were my grandmother Evelyn Annie HUNTER's parents when she was born in Folkstone on 4 December 1904. The question is where is the link? I have traced my step-grandmother's birth and have the birth certificate and death certificate for her and two of her brothers. I have found two separate Anderson's at two separate addresses. Perhaps someone can make sense of the following: Birth Certificates: Reference: 1858 # 493 Newcastle - St. Andrews Alexander ANDERSON (boy) born 2 Oct 1858 5 Princes Street. Father: Alexander Anderson - French Polisher Mother: Thomasine Anderson formerly Hutchinson (was this a second marriage or maiden name?) Reference: 1855 # 467 Newcastle - St. Andrews Margaret ANDERSON (Girl) born 18 October 1855 5 Princes Street. Father: Alexander Anderson - French Polisher (Master) Mother Thomasin Anderson formerly Hutchinson Have not yet received the last brothers birth Certificate. Death Certificates: Reference: 1920 # 322 Newcastle - All Saints 29 March 1920, 86 Percy Street, Newcastle Alexander ANDERSON (Male) 61 Years French Polisher died of Heart Failure following Rheumatism. Reference 1944 # 16 Northumberland West - Bellingham 27 November 1944 Kielder Castle - Kielder, R.D. Margaret ANDERSON (Female) 89 Years Spinster Reference 1930 # 299 Newcastle Upon Tyne - All Saints 20 May 1930, 86 Percy Street, Newcastle John Lambert Horsley ANDERSON (Male) 69 Years Formerly a French Polisher Robert Watson (My Grandfather) present at death. The above three people were related with no doubt. My Margaret and Alexander are in the first family, but their brother John Lambert is listed in the second family. Is there a remarriage? Did the family split and the kids spend time with other family members? Can anyone make any sense of my mystery? I am trying to figure out who is related to who and how. ANY and ALL guidance, assistance, directions...anything is most appreciated. Carol Watson Georgetown, Ontario, Canada
