Looking for Towle families in wisc. mid 1800's on....James Ira Towle, possibly born Maine, son of Francis Towle born Scotland. James born 1843, died 1928 in Birnamwood. believe to be Civil War Union vet, married Hannah Daily/Dailey/Daly....they had Melvin, Dora, Evan, elmer, Erwin, Ira, Ina, george, margaret ellen(nellie)...some of kids born in Shawano Cty...other born in Waupaca. As young adults moved around alot..some to Wausau... Estimate James came to Birnamwood area in 1882 to build a saw mill....need to know where he was prior to that. He shows up first in 1900 census for Shawano. Does anyone have census for Waupaca prior to 1900? also looking for civil war records...have sent for pension info..believe he was in the wisconsin volunteers. references inRoster of WI volunteers Vol !, pg 484 to James I Towle living in Oshkosh 8-8-64, in vol. two it lists a James living in Pt. Washington, 1861 ...don't know if they are the same and my wonderful lookup person didn't understand how to read the charts citing the sources.
