Looking for information on William P Hampton and family. William was born Aug 8 1789 in a part of North Carolina than became Tennessee a few years after he was born. William married Malinda (maiden name unknown) born about 1792 in Virginia. William and Malinda had seven children, John H., James P. William Irwin, Mary Adeline, Lemira, Mathilda, and Elizabeth. William and his family left Tennessee sometime around 1825 and went to McLean Co Illinois. They left Illinois about 1835 and settled in Dade Co Missouri. William died in Dade Co in 1855. I have found a William Hampton listed as being a member of Pipkin's West Tennessee Milita . A McLean County history book lists William as being of " the Wade Hampton connection". Is there anyone who knows where in Tennessee William could have come from and which family related to Wade Hampton he could be part of ? Also would like to find out what became of his son William Irwin. I can find marriage records for all of the children except William Irwin. Does anyone know what became of him ?
