    1. [ROLL-CALL-L] HUGHES & GRAY families
    2. I am searching for any information on my g-grandparents Albert HUGHES & Lillian GRAY. Albert's first name was Charles and I was told he was born around Buffalo, NY approx. 1885. His parents names were Charles HUGHES and Amelia SCHMITZ. Albert died in Cleveland, Ohio in 1951 and is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Lillian GRAY was from around the Columbus, Ohio area or Madison Co. She was born approx. 1885 and her parents were William GRAY and Lydia TILLMAN. Lillian also died in Cleveland in 1952 and is buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Albert and Lillian had 8 children but I only know of 4. Richard b. 1905, Anthony b. 1909, Amelia b.1914 and Gertrude b. 1919. Albert & Lillian seemed to move around a lot. Between 1905 & 1915 they probably lived in Cleveland, Ohio and were back there again in the late 1940's. They also lived in Buffalo, NY around 1918-1920 and sometime during the 1940's lived in Baltimore, Maryland. Albert's occupation was sometimes a landscaper and sometimes a janitor. 2 of their children, Richard & Amelia, were born in Cleveland. Gertrude was born in Buffalo. Anthony's death certificate says he was born in New York. Anthony HUGHES died in Rochester, NY in 1986. I have had a very hard time with this family. If anyone has any information on them please let me know. Thanks. Jean

    1. [ROLL-CALL-L] War of 1812 Rosters Illinois
    2. More from the Historical Society of Illinois 1904 " The following list contains the names of all officers of the milita appointed from Governor Edwards' induction into office to the close of the war and the subsequent disturbances, until the treaty of 1815 at Portage des Sioux, after which the territory relapsed into tranquility. May 7 Andrew Barbeau captain, and Pierre LeCompte, lieutenant, for Randolph County May 17, Michael Jones, adjutant of regiment of Randolph County, and Antoine LaChance, ensign June 23 a new battalion of militia havin been formed in that part of Randolph County lying on the Ohio river, Governor Edwards directed the commanding offiers of companies therein to hold elections for the purpose of electing captains and for the recommendation of a major. Governor Edwards having returned to assume the duties of his office, and learning that some of the officers of the militia were in many ways unworthy the commands to which action Governor Pope had appointed them, it was resolved to call an election where by the men could select officers whose names were to be submitted to the Governor for appointment. This general order was issued on July 4, and from the immediate and continued appointments to office in the militia, it is to be presumed the elections were duly held. Of course Governor Edwards was Commander-In-Chief. His different aides were NIcholas Jarrot, William Rector, William Mears and Shadrach Bond, Jr Brigadier General William Rector The general's aides, John H Robinson and David Anderson Brigade inspector, Benjamin Stephenson Adjutant general Elias Rector and Robert Morrison His aide Thomas T Crittenden More to follow
