    2. My husband is a descendent of John Howland, Mayflower also. Do you know there is a Howland association, with lots of information..even books written about the Howlands. The original family home still stands at Plymouth Mass. If you don't know any of this, write me & I can send you a lot of what we have. Jan Uhler jnjuhler@aol.com

We are all 'new' with each new name we pick up - you gotta start somewhere and the beginning (name, area of country, and hopefully an app. date) is usually the best. If you wait until you have 'more', you might not get 'more' - that's one reason for these lists, to get 'more'. Don't be sorry and don't not post!! Hang in there, girlfriend, and happy hunting!! 1. Re: [ROLL-CALL-L] Roll Call (African-American surnames)
    2. I am interested in your Black name. All I know is my Thomas Black originated in North Carolina or South Carolina. I know he was in Meriwether Ga in 1850 and dead by 1860. My grandfather was a Issac Russell Black born in 1843 in Ga. His father died and he was raised by a African American family. I was told he was Irish but was raised by African Americans. I have often wondered if he could have been malatto. Any data would be appreciated. Elaine s88897@aol.com
