    1. [ROLL-CALL-L] SLEPICKA / HRUSKA / CHICKEN / SACK / CECH
    2. ETM
    3. Michael SLEPICKA, married to Anna HRUSKA, in Chicago, Illinois, August 1879, St. John Nepomucene Roman Catholic Church, parents of nine children, all born in Minneapolis, Minnesota 1884-1902. Martin HRUSKA, age 62, married to Mary HRUSKA, age 50, parents of Anna, Martin, John and Barbara. Joseph SACK, age 23, husband of Mary HRUSKA, age 25, parents of at least one son, Joseph Sack, born May 1880. Maria CECH, possibly a midwife, possibly related to the above people, single godparent to Slepicka infant who died in first week of life in 1882, Chicago, Illinois. Slepicka and Hruska families are Bohemian immigrants to Chicago, Illinois, abt. 1866. Joseph Sack is believed to have been born in Germany and worked as a laborer. He is identified as a laborer in 1880, his in-laws and their children reside with Joseph and his wife and child. Male members of these families involved in wood-molding and machinist work in both Chicago and Minneapolis. Barbara HRUSKA, age 14, born in America, was already listed as a tailor in the 1880 Chicago Census, her brother, John, age 16, born in Bohemia, is an apprentice machinist in the same census. All live at 2713 Portland Avenue, Chicago. Seek connections to Slepicka and Hruska families who remained in Chicago after Michael and Anna Slepicka moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota (1883-4). Families are known to have used variations of their Bohemian surnames: Slepicka > Slepica > Chicken (loose translation of Slepicka (hen)). The Minnesota line descending from Michael and Anna Slepicka uses the name Slepica. Hruska > Hruskova > Pear > Peary (literal translation of Hruska/Hruskova) Any information welcome. Will share. 2. Brantley H. Parsley
    3. Hello searchers for Christ or Crist, I am studing the Crist family that sometimes is listed as Christ. Here is the information that I have. If these names connect to your search let me know. I am very interested in finding links to Nathan Crist(Christ) and his wife. THE ANNE B. CRIST FAMILY Annie B. Crist entered the Parsley family when she married James Hill Parsley. She was born on January 1, 1861 and married James Hill Parsley on 10-15-1890. They lived in Howard County and all their children were born there. She died on January 1, 1952 and is buried in McKendree Cemetery in Howard County. Her husband died quite young and she was force to tend the farm and raise the children. The family farm was passed on to Homer Parsley her oldest son. At Homer’s death the property was passed on to others. Her father was Grafton Crist who was born December 25, 1828 in Maryland. . He was a farmer. In studying Grafton Crist, I discovered that he was frequently listed as Grafton Christ. It became necessary to study not only the name, CRIST but also the name, Christ. Grafton died July 15, 1920 and was buried in Mt Olivet Cemetery on July 17, 1828. His father was Nathan Crist and he was born in Maryland in 1806 according to Grafton’s death certificate. His mother was Sarah Bernard and she was born in Maryland on January 1, 1807. Ed Crist was the informant on Grafton’s Death Certificate. Grafton married Emily Jane Michael who was born on 9-23-1831. She died on July 15, 1898 and is buried in the Mt Olive 200 Cemetery in Frederick. Note: from Wayland 1. Henry Deeds married Peggy Crist 9-23-1813 2. Captian George Crisman’s co.
