If someone came to your door and asked your age, what would you say? Personally, I would be 21. For me, that's like asking someone their weight! (110 lbs) Living in my own dreamland Vickie

HI: I would like to put in my two cents about the ages on the census. First there is a valid reason for some of the age differences - The census taker had to canvass the areas and it often took several weeks or in some cases months to complete the census. In some years at the beginning of the census taking it even took a couple of years to collect and transfer to the central point of storage. Regardless of the time it took the census would be referred to as 1810-1820-1830 or what ever year, but the age in the next one might be taken right at the birthday of the person and the age difference would then show up. Some of the people did not know what the term "your age as of say the first of July" they would more than likely give their age as right then. Anyway - censuses were not and are not exact every time. Hello Nikki! I have gone through all of my EADs data. I was breathless when I found a Rosa Belle EADS then realized that the name was wrong. Rosa Belle Eads was born in Goosneck, Polk Co., Oregon. I said my line was in WA but most of them were OR. Rosa Belle was born 29 Jan 1873 and married George ALLEN in Nov 1890. She died 1 Jan 1934. Here parents were Solomen M. Eades (b. 19 June 1842 in MO, d. 11 Apr 1921 in Colfax, Whitman Co., WA. He married Minerva Jane Flowers from OH. His parents were Moses Eads (Howard Co., MO) and Nancy Walker (NC). They were married 18 May 1866 in Salt Creek, OR. This information was given to me by a family representative. Her name is Nona Zuidderwin Bassett, at P.O. Box 1445, Merced, California. Don't know the zip. Rosa was the 5th child. My great grandmother was the 8th. They had 12. To complete the line. Moses parents were Isaac Eades and Sarah White. Isaac's parents was Jesse J. Eads (b.Logan, KY) and Elizabeth Miller. Good Luck. I went back to the Library today. I feel a little better but not much. With the family that may or may not be mind, I followed them through the 1920 NY soundex. I find three living with a step father, Frank Melche; a brother living on the same street, but in a different house. None of these have the same age as 1900. I can live with that. IF this is the right family, this means the father died after 1912 but before 1920. Maybe that is why Dave's grandmother never talked about the family -- only ever mentioning William and Melia. Thanks. If anyone can think of something else I should do, please write. Peggy
