    1. HOLLOWAY
    2. Yesterday, while doing census research, I was able to find a marriage to a HOLLOWAY so now, I am searching the HOLLOWAY surname in Georgia, too. I have a Mahalaya HOLLOWAY married to George W. 2. Mary A Kaylor
    3. Hi Twanda, Yes I am a KAYLOR researcher, too. Have lots of research material but none from KY. Our line were in PA in the late 1700's, migrating to IN and then IL. Can you trace your line back that far? Who knows, they might connect. Let me know what you do have and I will see if I can help in any way. The surname was spelled twenty different ways (at least) which was hard for me to believe at first, but some variants are KAYLOR/CAYLOR/KAHLER/CALER/KALER/KAHLER/KOEHLER/KOHLER/KAEHLER, etc., etc.. 2. I have a Mack J. HEALY married to my Emma T. Bauer. They lived in Bradford, Glen Hazel and Mt. Jewett, PA. He died in 1888. I have their children's names from Emma's obituary. They are: Sister Mary Agnita, Sister Emma Therese, Sister Marion, Dorothy, two other daughter names unknown, Mack J. jr. Am not sure if the "Sisters" names were their given names at birth or taken when they became nuns. Mack Sr. was Vice President and General Manager of Consolidated Window Glass Company at Bradford, PA. That is all I have on Healy. Conatact me @ GOKeene@aol.com if you think anything connects. Gina

    2. In a message dated 98-01-27 22:27:37 EST, you write: << The pay isn't bad and the mileage pay is pretty good- but you can't be overly timid or easily frightened by your surroundings ... >> I agree that taking census was a fascinating job. I didn't get paid when I did it, except for mileage, which was good. It was a special census year, for our city alone, but it was a federal census, and under the same set of rules. My church entered into a contract with the city, which was paying for it, and church members did it as volunteers, with the church getting paid. If you are interested in people, you meet all kinds.. interesting, rude, and sometimes frightening. I became skilled at getting difficult ones, so I was sent back to get those which the first enumerators couldn't get, for whatever reason. One house had a sign in the yard: "No Trespassing. Especially Govt Agents. Violators Shot on Sight." I got the information. The census asked to choose one of several choices for race, which turned out to be one of the more difficult questions. One person who looked to be of Scandinavian ancestry said he was black, another said very earnestly that he couldn't figure out what his children were, and even he and his wife were each mixed races (which was not an option). It was very intriguing. Toni, HB, CA
