    2. Sara Deatherage
    3. I agree with Jim Adams. I have spent hours and hours, opening, reading and deleting messages, of which 99 99/100% are not pertinent to my research - not to mention the times a list will turn into a chat room for awhile, or a flame war. So I am grateful for those messages that tell me at a glance that I don't need to open them, because I can't help them and they can't help me. Thanks. Sara Deatherage

    1. Re: [ROLL-CALL-L] surnames
    2. I , too like seeing the surname in the subject.....I would rather have 10 posts each with 1 surname than 1 post with 10 surnames in the subject.....I can usually only read the first 2 or 3 if I am lucky so then if I want to know the other surnames I must open the mail.....and considering I am on 3 heavy mail lists and a few other lite ones I have a lot of mail but only a little time

    1. [ROLL-CALL-L] Re: multiple posts on the ROLL-CALL
    2. I have to agree that it is more helpful to have each one seperate. It is very easy for me to simply delete the posts if I don't want to read them, and I can do that if each one is CLEARLY marked with the name and identifying info. Otherwise, with a subject like "SURNAMES" or "MY SURNAMES", I have to open the thing and read through it, usually to find that it is a useless piece of mail. This is also true for the ones that list "SMITH, JONES, KEATING..." What the heck does "..." mean? I have to open and read to find out. Clearly marked subject lines save me time and energy in reading - which requires far more time and energy than simply clicking "delete" for a bunch of them. Ella C.
