If you have watched the message traffic on various lists over the last several months you may have noticed a number of suggestions to put surnames in the subject and in upper case. The object of this is to provide visibility for the surnames you are researching. If you do not prefer the visibility, fine. If others prefer to delete subjects of surnames; more surnames; and my surnames, that too is fine. Let's get back to names being researched. George
A suggestion might be to put 3 or 4 surnames in a message so that they may show in the subject. I usually delete messages that do not have a surname in the subject. I just don't understand if you don't read through this stuff you may pass up a link you never knew. Some times information comes out of nowhere. I love to scroll through this stuff. You can learn so much. If you haven't got the time don't subscribe to the list.... Barbara. McCrystle@aol.com wrote: > I have to agree that it is more helpful to have each one seperate. Also looking for the SAWYER surname, mainly from the upstate New York area. Am just starting out so I don't have much information yet, but am willing to share what little I have. Thanks!

Let's appreciate the technology we have and not complain that it takes a little time to open. Our ancestors would have marveled at the toys we have today. Ron Bryan

Thbe problem with doing multiple posts, while many of you say you do not have the time to read through the other kind, is that I do not have the time to write 20 or 30 messages to the same list. Mary
This topic about the subject line has been discussed many times already and the concensus was fill out subject any way you want some people will read them some won't There is no right way for this list. So we need to stop the subject debate and get to posting your surnames. We will never agree. Nadine

My only contributin to this 'heavy' debate is that I think it would be helpful if the surnames were always written in caps with the locale written in lower case to make perusal a little easier i.e. LARMOUR NI>Canada>MI Susan Fritter Larmour
