They sailed from Hamburg, Germany on 5/4/1877 arriving in Brisbane on 4/9/1877. With him were his wife, Emilie, and their daughter, Theresa (1) and a Jacob Musch (18). Passenger list shows his name with an Umlaught above the "u" so may not be related. His occupation in Prussia was as a Doctor's attendant. He served in the war of 1870 against the French. Upon arriving in Queensland, Australia he took up land at Slacks Creek. Sold out after several years and bought another property at Stockleigh from pre-1887. Retired to live with his daughter Martha (Zink) at whose Gleneagle home he passed away. August was the first Farmer to experimnent with ensilage on the Logan River. Buried at Logan Village Cemetery. August's second wife was his daughter Martha's mother-in-law. Notes for EMILIE BOCK: Buried at Toowong with her daughter Theresa. She was buried as Amelia. I am searching for a Bridget Egan who sailed to the US from Clare, Ireland in the 1880s with her brother John and sister Mary. Her father was Patrick Egan and her mother Bridget Foran. She married a McNamara and had a child Julie or Julia (I believe) who ultimately traveled to Australia with her Auntie Mary to join the rest of their family, most of whom had emigrated to Australia rather than the US. Neither Julia nor Mary would disclose the whereabouts or the circumstances of Bridget or the McNamaras for unspecified reasons. John Egan died in America (we believe) before 1894.
