Any information on CANAVAN surname in RI?
Two surnames I am researching from North Carolina then came to Chatanooga, Hamilton Co.,TN then to Hamilton Co.,IL. An R.M. (possibly Orion) Belvin married Elizabeth Gastry in TN and had some of their 7 children in TN. In the 1860 census of Hamilton Co.,TN (what little I have) the Belvins listed are: R.M. Belvin 42 m, Elizabeth 46, Zarelda 18, Maragaret 15, James 13, Elizabeth 10, Jane 8, Jesse 4, & Johnathan 2. If anyone might have knowledge about which specific county in NC they came from or more about these family lines I would be interested in hearing from you. There are still eleven days of Christmas left. Enjoy! Steve Rieke [email protected]

Horstmann & Sons Phila delphia Leather & Carved Hilt Heavy embossed blade Other side of blade has U.S. Side of maker Pluribus Unum Someone carved in with what looks like was done with a knife the name "HOFFMAN" Has anyone come across a sword like this? And has anyone ever heard of W.H. Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia? Any history on the above would be very much appreciated. Thank You, Lisa
